About This Workshop

Helen will introduce the group to artists books, discuss how she started creating them, and share works she has completed.

From the mouth of Helen:

All Ozark Book Arts members invited to my studio at Mount Sequoyah for a close-up look at a variety of artist books.

I find that artist books offer a unique creative experience. They are often multilayered or sequential in concept, interactive and sculptural in form, and offer a private and intimate viewing experience.

I will show you some of my books and share how some of them are constructed. I will also discuss how the whole thing started for me. Having been a painter and mixed media artist for most of my life I have been continuously excited to discover the creative possibilities of combining my love of painting & mixed media, with my love of making books. Over the years, creating artists books has become a permanent and important part of my artmaking life.
